Upper Elementary
(Ages 8-11)

  • Offer opportunities for collaborative intellectual exploration in which the child’s interests are supported and guided

  • Support the development of self-confidence, imagination, intellectual independence, and self-efficacy

  • Foster an understanding of the child’s role in their community, in their culture, and in the natural world

Classes take place on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday each week. Students are highly encouraged to participate in the full three-day schedule, however they may also choose to register for a two-day or single-day schedule.

Students in our Upper Elementary age range have the opportunity to choose between three classes each period. Our classes provide a variety of focuses, including STEM, art and creativity, humanities, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Exploring these topics with a hands-on, collaborative approach to learning fosters a deep understanding of essential concepts.

Reduce, Reuse, and RECYCLE! In this class we are going to combine recycling with art concepts to create fun and unique pieces. Students will learn how to use recyclable objects like, bottle caps, cardboard, newspapers, and much more. So, get ready to have fun, get messy, be creative!

DNA Detectives

Have you ever wondered why your little sibling is taller than you or why your earlobes attach differently? In this exciting course, we will dive deep into the world of DNA! Get ready to discover how dominant and recessive traits work and how they get passed down from one generation to the next. Throughout the course, we'll have a blast creating DNA models, playing fun games to learn about trait inheritance probabilities, and even extracting DNA from a strawberry! Grimms’ Fairy Tales are the darker, more interesting versions of your favorite tall tales and Disney movies; all the way from Cinderella to Hansel and Gretel.
