Upper Elementary
(Ages 8-11)

  • Offer opportunities for collaborative intellectual exploration in which the child’s interests are supported and guided

  • Support the development of self-confidence, imagination, intellectual independence, and self-efficacy

  • Foster an understanding of the child’s role in their community, in their culture, and in the natural world

Classes take place on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday each week. Students are highly encouraged to participate in the full three-day schedule, however they may also choose to register for a two-day or single-day schedule.

Students in our Upper Elementary age range have the opportunity to choose between three classes each period. Our classes provide a variety of focuses, including STEM, art and creativity, humanities, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Exploring these topics with a hands-on, collaborative approach to learning fosters a deep understanding of essential concepts.

CrunchLab

Inspired by Mark Rober and his CrunchLabs experiments, this hands-on STEM class is all about building, testing, and figuring out how things work. Students will recreate a few well-known experiments while also designing projects of their own. Explore real engineering concepts through challenges like building a Newton’s Cradle to investigate momentum and creating a squirrel-proof bird feeder to test problem-solving and design. This class focuses on creativity, curiosity, and learning science by doing.

Grab your favorite Squishmallow & climb aboard the safari of a lifetime! We will be learning about all kinds of animals, while our Squishmallow friends take the lead. Meet the Masters

Meet the Masters takes young artists on a journey through art history to discover the fascinating lives and iconic works of history’s most famous artists. Students will explore the core elements and principles of art while practicing techniques inspired by masters like Van Gogh and Monet to build confidence and creativity. Through hands-on, multi-medium projects, kids will transform these historical lessons into their own original masterpieces.

Plant Power!

Get ready for a hands-on dive into the surprising world of plant science! In this class, students will explore how plants grow, survive, and interact with the world around them through fun experiments and creative challenges. Dissect a real pumpkin, take apart flowers, test how water moves through plants, and investigate seeds, leaves, and more. From building and testing to outdoor exploration, each week brings a new way to discover how plants power ecosystems—and our everyday lives. No green thumb needed—just curiosity!

Smart Art

Smart Art invites young creators to explore the fascinating intersection of mathematics and visual art through hands-on, creative projects. Students will master key elements and principles of design, such as symmetry, pattern, and geometric form, while producing masterpieces inspired by mathematical concepts. Using a variety of mediums—from sketching and watercolor to paper sculpture—this class fosters both analytical thinking and artistic technique.

Dead Men Tell No Tales

Set sail on a hands-on pirate adventure powered by science, creativity, and a bit of daring! Discover how real pirates like Blackbeard sailed across open oceans, kept their ships afloat, and survived using wind, water, and smart navigation. Through building, experimenting, and design challenges, students will test ship ideas, explore ocean forces, and create their own

crew identity as they take on the kinds of problems pirates faced at sea. With a spark of inspiration from adventurous stories like One Piece, this class blends science, engineering, design, and creativity into an exciting journey across the rogue seas.

Zoology

Why do arctic foxes change color? How does a Venus flytrap “know” when to snap shut? Students will explore the fascinating world of animal behavior and conservation through habitats, adaptations, animal behavior, and ecosystem roles, while uncovering real-world animal careers like wildlife biologists, veterinarians, and animal trainers. In a culminating project, students will research an animal and design its ideal habitat.

Get ready to laugh, create, and perform in this high-energy improv class designed to make you laugh! In this class, students will explore the exciting world of improvisational theater—where there are no scripts, just imagination. Through silly games, group challenges, and creative storytelling, students will learn how to think quickly and confidently, work as a team, support others, build new characters, and act out hilarious scenes.

In this class, students will have the chance to belt out their favorite Broadway songs in fun karaoke sessions, explore the rich history of musical theatre, and learn all about what makes a show come to life. We’ll take a journey backstage to discover what it takes to put on a Broadway production, then follow that path all the way to showtime on stage. Through interactive projects, games, and activities, students will dive into the magic of the theatre, building confidence and creativity along the way.

Creative You

Creative You is a supportive art class designed for kids to explore their emotions through creative expression and gentle art therapy techniques. Students will learn the fundamentals of color theory, elements of art, and principles of design to help process feelings and build emotional resilience. Using a variety of mediums, this class focuses on the creative process to empower young artists to communicate, relax, and create with confidence.

KPop Demon Hunters

Korean Pop Culture is known for its quirky fashions, catchy lyrics and trending dances. Be ready for Stardom as we recreate your favorite KPop Idols through Music Video watch parties, Korean catch Phases, designing Light Sticks and Cultural immersion. The KPop Phenomenon is highly loved worldwide. Experience our class as we dance, design, and become living legends in the KPop era.

Mission Control

Get ready for liftoff! Explore the wonders of space while learning about the phases of the moon, day and night, seasons, the solar system, and what stars really are. Discover how space exploration works, including astronaut training and missions at Kennedy Space Center. Build models of the solar system and moon phases, create glowing moon rocks, and transform the classroom into a mini planetarium with constellation and projection projects.

The Grid

Explore the science behind the systems we rely on every day. Students will investigate how water reaches your faucet, how electricity powers your home, how packages are delivered, and how systems like the internet connect our world. Along the way, they’ll also explore what happens to food, fabrics, and waste after use. Through hands-on experiments and creative projects, students will uncover how these systems move, connect, and function, drawing on concepts from physics, engineering, and environmental science.

Why Do We?

Why do we hiccup, sneeze, or get goosebumps? Explore the systems that keep the human body alive and functioning every day. Investigate bones, muscles, organs, cells, and major body systems while discovering how they work together like an incredible machine. Build models like a pumping heart and a working skeleton while exploring real questions about how your body works behind the scenes.

Step into a magical world where science meets wizardry! Each week, students will dive into a different “Hogwarts-style” class—such as Potions, Herbology, Charms, Transfiguration, and Care of Magical Creatures. Through hands-on experiments and creative challenges, students will explore science, engineering, math, and language in an engaging STEAM experience. Throughout the course, they will build skills and complete magical challenges as they train to become full-fledged wizards.

Get ready to move, groove, and create! This high-energy class blends dance games, creative movement, and different styles of choreography to keep students active and having fun. Students will build their confidence as they explore a variety of movements, as well as learning new skills, and expressing their own unique style!

Obstacles & Outcomes (combo)

In this interactive, choose-your-own-adventure style class, students will explore exciting scenarios where every decision leads to new challenges, consequences, and outcomes. Situations will be tailored to each class, ensuring students engage with scenarios that are both age appropriate and thought provoking. Younger students will focus on everyday choices like friendship, teamwork, and problem solving, while middle and older students will tackle more complex scenarios involving responsibility, ethics, risk taking, and long-term consequences. Through guided storytelling, group discussion, and decision-based activities, students will learn how to think critically, weigh options, and understand the impact of their actions. While some situations may be fantastical, the core focus remains grounded in real life skills and helping students build confidence and prepare for thoughtful decision making in their everyday lives.

The truth is stranger than fiction! In this class, we will explore the awful ends of some of the most infamous and famous people in history. From lead poisoning to beheading and everything in between, this class is sure to be awfully “end”tertaining.

Procreate Piccassos

Unleash your inner artist in Procreate Picassos, a dynamic digital art class where kids explore the fundamentals of design through exciting projects ranging from photo manipulation to simple animation.
