Junior High (Ages 11-14) & High School (Ages 14+)

  • Assist young adults in the understanding of oneself in wider and wider frames of reference

  • Provide a context for practical application of academics

  • Emphasize the development of self-expression, true self-reliance, and agility in interpersonal relationships

Classes take place on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday each week. Students are highly encouraged to participate in the full three day schedule, however they may also choose to register for a two day or a single day schedule.

Junior High & High School students focus on topics similar to our Upper Elementary age-range with more in-depth comprehension and practice. Maintaining a hands-on, collaborative approach to learning, students explore concepts related to STEM, art and creativity, humanities, critical thinking, and problem-solving. We offer different classes each semester and create a four-class schedule that offers a balance of these core studies.

This course explores the dynamic relationship between literature and history, using novels as windows into specific historical periods and social contexts. This semester will be dedicated to F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, using it as a lens to explore the backdrop of the roaring twenties—a decade of unprecedented prosperity, social change, and moral decay. We will examine how the novel explores timeless themes of illusion, aspiration, social class, and the corrosive nature of the American Dream.

Inside the Gallery

Using research and analysis, students will explore different museums, discover famous artworks they hold, and learn why these places are important. We will also look at how museums help people learn about art, history, and the city around them. By the end of the class, students will better understand how art museums work and why they matter!
