Learning

The Lighthouse School is an inclusive, diverse learning community providing activity-based classes and events for homeschooling families. Our school year is based on the Orange County Public School calendar and therefore shares  many of the same holidays and breaks.

Education cannot be effective unless it helps a child open up himself to life.

Dr. Maria Montessori

Course work is delivered through a combination of hands-on activities, such as collaborative play, experiments, and lecture-based instruction. Throughout the school day students make creative choices in their learning while our highly trained teachers offer age-appropriate activities to guide the process. Students work in groups and individually to discover and explore knowledge of the world and to develop their maximum potential.
