Our Upper Elementary students will spend their mornings with their core teacher. This will allow students to bond with their teacher and peers. They will build connections and collaborate on projects across the curriculum. Together they will dive into literature, express themselves through creative writing and explore math and science through hands-on projects and activities. Each day a certified yoga instructor will lead a yoga class to strengthen minds and bodies. Students will have outside learning time each week and participate in collaborative storytelling with our professional storyteller. In the afternoon, students will take World Geography and S.M.ART Class.
World Geography
A Kid’s View of the World: Kids generally find geography boring and yet this generation is growing up with a need to know world geography more than any other generation. The question is, how do we get them to learn and enjoy it? Take them on a vacation and show them the world from a child’s point of view! In this class we’ll fly, sail, drive or take a train, a ski lift, even a dive to places all over the world to see how kids there live and play. We’ll focus on a particular region for a few weeks and highlight some countries there by talking about life as a local child and also a visiting child. What would you want to see if you vacationed there? In this way, children are introduced to the culture and the travel side of each country they visit. Guaranteed to be a lot of fun, interesting and very educational, your child will want to pack their bags and go see the world!
S.M.ART class
Art class with a fun twist! Upper Elementary students will be learning how science, math, and art intersect! We will create art projects using science and math, discuss the mathematics behind some famous paintings, learn the Fibonacci sequence and how it applies to art, learn about a world-renowned mathematician who doodled to understand difficult math concepts, and much more!
